I learned Tayler's blog an year ago and shared with me the ways to stop spam from invading your Sidekick. I think this is wonderful idea, so let's get a picture in the head what diagram looks like (my home-made hand drawn):

Here are the simple, easy step by step how to set up new Sidekick email change to prevent the spam:
1. Look for free web mail to create new email account as primary for Sidekick. My choice: Google Gmail because they have stronger spam filters.
2. Contact T-Mobile customer service representative to ask them to change your Sidekick email address. This should be long and uncommon. Rule: Never, never give anyone your new Sidekick email address, even your soul mates or relatives.
3. In Gmail inbox, go to Settings in the upper right corner. Go to "Forwarding and POP" tab.
Then, select "Forward a copy of incoming mail" to fill new Sidekick email address. Personally, I selected "archive Gmail's copy" so sender email messages can saved in my Gmail archives.

4. Once you get the email from T-Mobile service that your new Sidekick email is activate, Take road down to Menu icon > Settings > Accounts on your Sidekick.

5. You will see simple Email Accounts window. Go to EDIT button.

6. Change to Gmail email address in two fields: From Address and Reply-To Address, and you're DONE!

My SK/Gmail went effect on September 2006, and ever since today, I never gotten single SPAM messages. It worked like peace. This is way better than TESC.

For your information, T-mobile DOES offer spam filters.
It's on t-mobile.com.

Thank you. Appreciate it. I printed and put it into my file for future reference. I have not received any spam in my Sidekick II because I have never used my account on computer.

I don't sign up for subscription for anything onto my sidekick e-mail. This is a NO, NO at all !
If you sign up for subscription for anything onto your sidekick, the chance you will get a lot of spams.

In addition to my previous comment, if you put your t-mail address on deaf connection list, you have higher chance of receiving spams.

This works great. I've been doing it since 2002. And telling others about it for years. No spam for me!
