I sent an entry to EGM few days ago about 'Game of the Month prizes', I recieved email from Dan "Shoe" Hsu, EGM Editor-in-Chief:
Hi David,I'm sorry about this, but let me give you some insight so you know we're not trying to screw our friends.
1. We don't take care of the prizes at EGM. This is a sponsored area, so we ship your name to the sales department, and in return, they send it to the sponsor, who ships out the prize. If you didn't get a prize, either it got lost in the mail, or someone dropped the ball along the way...most likely the sponsor themselves (notice we have changed sponsors over the years with different prizes...so that leads to problems, too). Not that you would care about any of this cause it's not your problem...but I just wanted to let you know that the EGM folks aren't out to screw people (why would we? why would we purposely not send out a $20-30 controller just so readers can tell the world that we are full of BS?)2. If someone wrote back to us to complain about not getting a prize (and it's happened), probably the only way we can do anything about it is if they wrote us personally, like you have here. If they just wrote to the EGM letters inbox, there's a very good chance we'd never see it. Not because we're purposely ignoring them, but because we get hundreds of emails each day (not to mention spam), and it's physically impossible for us to read them all. It's very easy for one email to not reach our eyes because of sheer volume.
In any case, I got your email here, have your address, and will look into it. I may have to wait until late next week or the week after, because the letters editor at the time of your letter, Demian Linn, is on vacation, and I need to ask him about your particular case (he's the one who would've sent your name on to the Sales department...and I'm not sure who our contact there would be...but he would know).Thanks for your patience, and I apologize for the lost prize.
